We had a "Couples field trip" to the Firestone Plantation on Thursday 21
February. It was fascinating! We went out to the nursery, saw how they
graft the trees so they are bug resistant, wind resistant etc and also
had a "tapping" demonstration. They tend 119,000 acres of rubber trees
and employ 7,000 people. They also provide housing, medical and
schooling for all employees and their families. It is a huge operation!
